Project title: Aerodynamic Optimisation and Design of the Rear Wing of a Formula 3 Sprint Car

Project Overview

This project involved investigating and optimizing the current rear wing design of SBD Motorsports F3 Sprint car. Case studies were done using the current design investigating the positioning of the elements and the wing in general. This was done using both CFD and real world testing. After looking at the current wing design a small investigation was also done looking at different wing profiles, seeing their impact on the aerodynamic efficiency.

Why did you choose this course?

I have had a passion for both Engineering and Motorsport from a young age. When i found out that there was a course that could combine both these passions i knew this is what i wanted to do at university.

Why did you choose to attend UWTSD?

I first found out about UWTSD at an exhibition stand at Silverstone, this lead me to research the university more. The more hands on approach from the lecturers and the course in general, along with the fantastic facilities and extra curricular activities made me want to complete my studies at UWTSD.

What are your future plans?

Next year i will be enrolling onto the MSc Motorsport Engineering at UWTSD to enhance my learning. Once I have completed this i will be looking for work in aerodynamics either in the Motorsport or Automotive industries.
